Federal Officials Hear the Stories of Youth with Incarcerated Parents
In June, 2016 NRCCFI participated in the planning and implementation of a 2 day listening session with youth who have or have had incarcerated parents. The session was held in Washington DC and was the first time that youth with incarcerated parents were brought together from all parts of the US to not only discuss the issues and concerns they and their families face but also to present their stories and recommendations to senior officials in various agencies of the Federal Government.
A similar session is being planned for December 2016 in Camden County NJ. This session will focus on youth from 15-21 in Camden County who have or have had an incarcerated parent. Their recommendations will be available in early 2017.
