Statewide Correctional Initiatives Supporting Children with Incarcerated Parents: An Action Plan for Policymakers

We are thrilled to announce the release earlier this week of our new Statewide Action Plan. Developed by our Founding Director Ann Adalist-Estrin with The Council of State Governments Justice Center and the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy at University of Connecticut, the plan provides practical, evidence-based strategies states can implement today.  From creating child-friendly visiting spaces to expanding parenting programs and supporting communication between children and parents, this plan gives policymakers and agencies clear steps to reduce trauma, strengthen family connections, and improve long-term outcomes.
